Welcome to the official website of A Band of Outriders. A Band of Outriders is an energetic, forty-piece ensemble, comprised of Calgary Stampede Showband alumni and other musicians from the Calgary area. Formed in 1991, A Band of Outriders is known for their diverse musical repertoire – often contrasting traditional swing tunes and classical standards with rock and western favourites.
Versatility is a key characteristic of the group. Members have performed at diplomatic events, weddings, and for raucous crowds in football stadiums and rodeo arenas. As Stampede ambassadors, A Band of Outriders extend their musical version of western hospitality to local crowds and thousands of Calgary visitors every day during the annual Stampede. A Band of Outriders makes over 50 appearances during the 10 days of Stampede.
